The Miami County Sheriff's Office began the Cell Phones for Seniors program in 2007. This agency is continuously accepting donations of used cell phones from anyone in the community. These phones are sent to Vibe Wireless and the memory is erased. The phones are then programmed for the area code where they will be distributed and can only dial 911 emergency dispatch. When a person with the phone contacts 911, emergency services will be dispatched. The emergency contact person will also be contacted and advised of the situation.
Persons in need of an emergency cell phone may contact Lieutenant Jamie McGlinch at the Miami County Sheriff's Office. He can be reached at 937-440-3970 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
