In 2004, the Sheriff’s Office began hosting a summer youth camp for children between the ages of 8-12 who have never had the opportunity to attend a camp or who need an opportunity to interact with law enforcement in a positive way. The camp offers significant challenges and opportunities for each child obtained through a structured environment of education, team building, fun and interaction with law enforcement officers in a relaxed atmosphere.
Various activities include demonstrations by different safety forces such as local fire and EMS crews and a K-9 demonstration. Organized games requiring a team effort are also enjoyed by the children.
