PUBLIC RECORDS POLICY
The Miami County Sheriff's Office acknowledges that our office maintains many records that are used in the administration and operation of the Sheriff's Office. The maintenance by the Miami County Sheriff of public records and the provision by the Miami County Sheriff of access to public records is a means to engender public trust in the Miami County Sheriff's Office and its governmental functions. The Miami County Sheriff's Office maintains its public records in a manner which allows the Sheriff's Office to provide the general public prompt inspection of the public records of the Sheriff's Office and the provision of copies of these public records within a reasonable time during the regular business hours of the Sheriff's Office which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. with the exception of legal holidays.
Photocopies of public records which are directly requested will be provided in exchange for prepayment of the actual cost of reproducing the same which has been calculated at $.05 per single page and $.10 per double-sided copy. Details as to the availability of reproductions of public records in other media and the cost of the same and the cost of providing copies of public records via the mail will be provided upon request.
The Miami County Sheriff's Office has a public records policy and a schedule of records retention (RC-2), copies of which will be provided upon request.
